A1 BaseKIT Timber Shed Base System

The A1 BaseKIT timber shed base is a rectangular Tanalised® (pressure-treated) frame system. A1 Sheds first developed this shed base back in the 1980’s in order to create a low cost, simple, fast and effective solution for gardens with uneven or mixed surfaces. Nowadays, this timber shed base is also known as an AirTech Base, Pin-Base, PortaBase, PowerBase etc. however the basic design remains the same.

** The A1 BaseKit™ is available as an optional extra for the TGB, Saltire and A1 branded timber buildings only, and it cannot be delivered separately.

If you choose us to assemble your shed, then we’ll assemble and install this shed base for you FREE OF CHARGE. There is NO GROUND PREPARATION REQUIRED* and we are able to fit it onto any firm surface… inc. grass, soil, gravel, uneven slabs, concrete etc. The ground below doesn’t need to be level either, therefore the A1 BaseKIT can be fitted onto gently sloping ground (max. 12″), uneven ground, and mixed surfaces if required, all you need is an area clear of any movable obstacles or shrubs.

Please note that the design of the A1BaseKit, the quantity of pegs, and their positions will vary depending on the size of building, and type of ground.

Limitations

While timber-framed bases are typically a reliable and cost-effective option, the softer ground commonly found in new-build estates may not provide sufficient support. The ground conditions on many new-build estates can often be soft or boggy due to the way these sites are developed, and these conditions can impact the stability and long-term durability of timber-framed bases used for sheds or other garden structures. Over time, this could lead to issues such as:

Uneven settlement or sinking of the base.
Structural instability of the shed or garden building.
Increased wear and tear on the building due to improper levelling.

To ensure the longevity and performance of your garden building, we strongly recommend considering more robust foundation options, if there is any doubt about the suitability of the base such as a concrete base, paving slabs laid on a compacted hardcore base, or ground screws with reinforced framing.

IMPORTANT:

Our assembly service is only available for slopes with a maximum drop of 30cm across the floor area of your building. We may be able to accommodate larger slopes, however there will be an additional charge (the amount will vary depending on the individual circumstances). Please let us know prior to arrival in order to bring the appropriate materials otherwise the building and base will be left for self assembly. Alternatively a return visit can be arranged, however there would be a significant handling and return charge.

*The ground must be firm enough to take the weight of your building. We are unable to provide a solid fixing into freshly disturbed, or boggy ground, as this may not support the posts or the frame. Before ordering, please let us know if your ground is like this, and we’ll let you know what can be done.

PLEASE NOTE: It is the homeowners responsibility to check that there are no under-ground services i.e. electric, water, sewage pipes etc. before post or pegs are hammered into the ground, as we will not be liable for any damage caused. We are unable to guarantee that your base won’t settle after assembly.
